Toronto Zoo Treehouse Walkway Installation
In late 2006, Wellington Landscapes was presented with a unique opportunity: to install the walkways for the Treehouse Enclosure at the Toronto Zoo. This project required an innovative approach, utilizing Eco-Flex’s Keystone Interlock tiles—durable, interlocking rubber tiles made from recycled tires. These tiles, known for their resilience and slip resistance, were previously used in high-profile installations, including the 2010 Olympics
Our team laid these eco-friendly tiles atop the high-quality bases that Wellington Landscapes is renowned for. The project extended our landscaping season to December 23, marking the latest we’ve ever worked in a year. After a brief holiday break, we resumed work on January 8, 2007, and completed the installation in just six days.
This project not only showcased our commitment to sustainable landscaping solutions but also demonstrated our ability to adapt and deliver under unique circumstances.
